The film Devdas, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, is one of the classic cult movies of cinema. Shah Rukh Khan gave the best performance of his career. He brought life to the role of Devdas. In a recent interview, Sikandar Kher has shared an anecdote from the sets of Devdas.

 

Sikandar worked as an assistant director in the movie Devdas . His mother Kiran Kher also played an important role in the film. The person who won Sikandar's heart while assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali was Shah Rukh Khan. He told how the actor lived with others on the set.

 

Shah Rukh's entry was cut on the set

In the Tape A Tale podcast, Sikandar Kher revealed that Shah Rukh Khan gave him his camera to shoot the BTS of Devdas. The actor said, “I was having a tough time buying a handycam and Shah Rukh gave me his own handycam and it was a great setup. It had a variety of lenses and a tripod and I shot 22 hours of footage. In the scene where Shah Rukh is breaking bottles, his finger gets cut and I went with my camera using night vision and shot that footage.”

 

Shah Rukh used to give his own lines to others

Apart from being dedicated to his work, Shah Rukh Khan was also very cooperative. He would even give his lines to others so that the film could be shot smoothly. Praising the actor, Sikander said, “I have seen him working and he is a giving actor. From what I have seen and heard from people, he is the most amazing person on the set. He is so secure in himself that he will give you his lines himself to make the scene successful.”

Talking about the star cast of Devdas, the film had actors like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Jackie Shroff and Kiran Kher in the lead roles along with Shah Rukh Khan. The film was one of the biggest hits of 2000.
