The Bharatiya Janata Party has registered a spectacular victory in the municipal elections in Uttarakhand and has won 10 out of 11 mayor posts. Along with this, the BJP has also maintained its dominance in municipal councils and Nagar Panchayats. State Election Commissioner Sushil Kumar told 'PTI-Bhasha' that the BJP has won 10 out of 11 mayor seats in the state, while another seat has gone to an independent. However, the counting of votes is still going on and it may take some more time for the complete results to come.
The State Election Commissioner said that the counting of votes which started on Saturday is still going on and it may take some more time for the results of all the 100 municipal bodies of the state to come. The BJP won the mayoral post in Dehradun, Rishikesh, Kashipur, Haridwar, Roorkee, Kotdwar, Rudrapur, Almora, Pithoragarh and Haldwani, while the only mayor seat that went to an independent was Srinagar in Pauri district.

The public has played an important role in the development of the state by selecting capable public representatives with their blessings. Now it is the job of all the elected public representatives to speed up development in their respective areas and play their role in strengthening the systems."
BJP excited by the victory, Congress's account not opened
State BJP President Mahendra Bhatt said, the result of the municipal elections is another public stamp on the policies and schemes of the BJP governments at the Center and the state. He said, "These results are the trailer of BJP's third consecutive victory in the state assembly elections to be held in 2027."
Let us tell you that Congress, which had won two mayor seats in the last municipal elections in the year 2018, could not win a single seat this time. Even in the municipalities, the Congress party lagged behind BJP and independents and could only secure the third position.
