Gallantry award List A total of 942 personnel from the police, fire brigade, home guards and civil defence and correctional services were awarded gallantry and service medals of various categories on the eve of Republic Day.

 

Of these medals, 95 are gallantry medals.

 

The Union Home Ministry said the awardees include personnel from the police, fire brigade, home guards and civil defence, and those working in correctional services.

 

Honoring those who attacked Naxalism and terrorism

The gallantry award winners include 28 posted in Left Wing Extremism affected areas, 28 in Jammu and Kashmir region, three in the Northeast and 36 posted in other areas are being honoured for their gallantry actions.

 

101 soldiers awarded President's Award for Distinguished Service

101 personnel have been awarded President's Medals for Distinguished Service (PSM). Of these, 85 have been given to police personnel, five to fire service personnel, seven to civil defence and home guard service and four correctional service awards.

 

You will get these benefits with the medal

  • Soldiers receiving the President's Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) are given Rs 6,000 per month.
  • Soldiers receiving the gallantry medal (GM) are given Rs 6000 per month.

Who gets the bravery medal?

The Gallantry Medal (GM) is awarded for rare exceptional acts of bravery and conspicuous gallantry, involving the saving of life and property, preventing crime or arresting criminals.

 

In this, the risk is assessed according to the responsibilities and duties of the officer concerned. The President's Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) is awarded for exceptionally distinguished record in service and the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM) is awarded for valuable service characterised by resourcefulness and devotion to duty.
