Salman Khan's latest film 'Sikandar' was released in theatres on March 30. The film had a good start on Eid with housefull shows at some places. However, now the film is getting mixed response.
What was the collection of the film on the first day?
Sikandar did not get a great opening as expected by the makers. However, on the second day, there was a slight increase in the collection of the film. On the first day, the collection of the film was 30 crores while on the second day this figure increased to 29 crores. However, it was heard at many places that due to not getting many shows, the collection of the film has been affected. However, now it is a matter of happiness for the makers.
Shows were extended due to the increasing demand
Some theatres like G7 Multiplex in Mumbai have added more shows due to the strong demand. The film has reportedly not lived up to expectations in cities like Surat, Ahmedabad, Bhopal and Indore. Many theatres have reportedly replaced Sikandar with other films due to low demand.
Shows had to be canceled in many places
A trade analyst told Bollywood Hungama, "We did not find any cases of show cancellations in Mumbai. There were shows where the footfall was in single digits, but there were no shows cancelled due to lack of footfall in the first two days. However, the same was true in Surat, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Indore, etc., especially in areas where the impact of Eid was minimal or nonexistent."
According to NDTV report, Kiritbhai T. Vaghasiya, who runs The Friday Cinema multiplex in Surat, said that no tickets were sold for the morning show of Sikandar on Monday.
Demand for shows increased in Mumbai
The report also stated that despite cancellations and replacements in other cities, Mumbai's G7 multiplex is proving to be a big exception. Since its release on March 30, Sikandar has been running very well in its two biggest halls - the 991-seater Gaiety and the 818-seater Galaxy. Several more shows have been added since March 31 to meet the demand.
