There are many such stories in the Ramayana book, which not only surprise a person but also teach him something. You will be surprised to know that the yagya conducted for the victory of Ram Ji (Ram blessings for war) was conducted by none other than Dashanan Ravana himself.

Ravana accepted the invitation

According to the story, when Lord Ram and his monkey army reached near Lanka while searching for Sita ji, they thought of organizing a Yagya for Mahadev to achieve victory. But for the success of this Yagya, a learned Pandit was needed. At that time, in the eyes of Ram ji, there was no Pandit greater than Ravana, so Ravana was invited to perform the Yagya. Because Ravana was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, he could not refuse this invitation.

Successfully performed yajna

When Ravana arrived to perform the yagya on invitation, all the monkeys including Lord Rama addressed him with folded hands. Ravana successfully completed the yagya without any hesitation. After the yagya, Lord Shri Ram asked Ravana for blessings for victory in the war, on which Ravana blessed him by saying 'Tathastu'. As per the blessings given by Ravana, Ram ji won the war (Ramayana battle story) and finally Ravana had to face death.

What does this story show

This story is interesting and also shows Ravana's devotion to Shiva and his scholarship. Along with this, this story also shows the high ideals of Lord Ram because he did not see Ravana, who had come to perform the yagya, as an enemy, but respected his position as a learned scholar.
