Legal Correspondent, Prayagraj. The Allahabad High Court has appointed a team of two lawyers to inspect the condition of the largest hospital in Prayagraj division, Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital, and has sought a report from them within a week.
Patients and their attendants are troubled by the terror of stray dogs and rats in SRN Hospital. Dogs roam around in the wards. Rats eat the government medicines as well as the belongings of the patients. Taking suo motu cognizance of such news, Allahabad High Court has filed a PIL.
While hearing the petition, the division bench of Justice MK Gupta and Justice Manish Kumar Nigam directed two lawyers of the state government to visit the Motilal Nehru Medical College hospital and inspect it and submit a report to the court.
Additional Chief Standing Counsel AK Goyal and Standing Counsel Neeraj Kumar immediately reached the hospital on Thursday after the court's direction and inspected it. An affidavit has been filed on behalf of the medical college in this case, which was not available on record during the hearing.
