Prayagraj. Prayagraj Development Authority demolished three temples that came under the purview of Maharishi Bhardwaj Corridor. The priests of the temple opposed the demolition. Due to the protest, the work was affected for three hours. After the arrival of PDA officials, the demolition started again at around two o'clock.
The cave built to connect one temple to another was also demolished by bulldozer. Apart from this, two religious places were demolished in Rasulabad area. The construction of Maharishi Bharadwaj Corridor is to be completed before Maha Kumbh. Under this, Vyas Rishi, Kapilmuni and Panchmukhi temples which came in its purview were demolished by bulldozer on Wednesday.
When the demolition started at 10.30 am by the firm M/s CK Singh, who was carrying out the expansion work, more than a dozen people, including the temple priest Arthav Goswami, started protesting against the demolition. Gyan Singh, associated with the firm, informed the zonal officer of the PDA about this matter.
The Zonal Officer arrived at the spot. During this time the demolition was completely stopped. After talks between the Zonal Officer and the protesters for about three hours, the demolition could start after 2 pm.Arthav Goswami said that the demolition is being done arbitrarily. This temple is also recorded in government records, despite this it was demolished.
It was told that the PDA is preparing to demolish four more temples in the coming days. Shivkumar, Mahendra Goswami, Rinku, Bhanu Goswami etc. were present. Zonal Officer Sanjeev Upadhyay told that some people were protesting in the beginning but when the PDA team reached the spot, the protest stopped.
