Meerut News: The unique protest against the electricity department in Meerut has become a topic of discussion. While people were shouting slogans while getting drenched in the rain, on the other hand, they also made the officers of the electricity department sit on a dharna in the rain. The officers were vowing that they would solve the problem and end the dharna. But the angry people were not ready to leave and were demanding to call senior officers.
The protesters entered the Urja Bhawan shouting slogans and created a ruckus. After this, the police pacified them and took them out. Then councilor Rekha Singh sat outside with the people. Meanwhile, it started raining heavily. After which she removed the women from the protest and then former councilor Neeraj Thakur sat in the rain with the men.
The officials were also made to sit on the dharna.
Meanwhile, when SDO RA Kushwaha and JE Gautam Kumar came to convince them, even then they did not listen and the SDO and JE also sat down on the ground in the rain with the public. Both the officials explained a lot to the people who were protesting, but the people were adamant on their demand to call PVVNL MD Isha Duhan. When SDO RA Kushwaha was talked to, he said that it does not matter, it is raining, but it is our responsibility to solve the problems of the public, now it is fine, we are sitting in the rain with the public.
The whole matter is related to Meerut's Ward 60 Phoolbagh Colony. Here, dilapidated electricity poles and wires passing near the houses can become the cause of a big accident. BJP councilor from Ward-60 Rekha Singh pleaded with the electricity department officials a lot, but neither the dilapidated poles were removed nor the wires passing near the houses. Councilor Rekha Singh alleges that when the XEN and SDO said that this work is not in our hands, then the councilor reached Urja Bhawan with the people of the ward.
Ultimatum given to the electricity department
The councillor expressed her displeasure over the replacement of dilapidated poles and removal of power lines passing near the houses and disconnection of electricity connections for a small bill. She gave a 24-hour ultimatum to the officers of the electricity department and said that if the officers do not wake up, then she will sit on a hunger strike in front of the Energy Building. She said that if any accident occurs due to this, then who will be responsible?
The angry people protesting at Urja Bhawan were adamant on calling PVVNL MD Isha Duhan to the spot, but the MD did not come. Former councilor Neeraj Thakur said that some officers still have the mentality of the SP government and want to defame our government, we will not let this happen. Finally Technical Director N.K. Mishra and ACM Civil Line arrived and assured that the problem will be solved soon, after which they were also made to meet PVVNL MD Isha Duhan, only then the protest ended.
