New Delhi. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has expressed concern over the increasing trend of disruptions during the proceedings of the House. He said that when disruptions become headlines and the disruptors are honored as heroes, journalism fails in its duty to maintain democratic values.

The Vice President said this while interacting with students at Parliament House. Dhankhar called upon the media to re-evaluate its priorities in covering parliamentary proceedings.

The Vice President said this about the disruptions in parliamentary proceedings

Expressing concern over the tendency to glorify disruptions, he called upon the media to rise above partisan views and refrain from engaging with political agendas and introspect. Drawing a comparison with the Constituent Assembly where democratic ideals were respected and disruptions were almost non-existent, the Vice President expressed concern over the increasing trend of disruptions in parliamentary proceedings.

He further said that every session in the Constituent Assembly contributed in laying the foundation of our nationhood without any interruption, but interruptions have unfortunately become political tools rather than exceptions.

We are becoming a superpower- Vice President

The Vice President urged the media to fulfill its responsibility in presenting the correct image of India to the world. He said, people from outside cannot evaluate India. There are many people who are unable to digest our unimaginable progress that we are becoming a superpower.
