It will now be easier to catch criminals who have fled from India and are hiding in other countries. Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Bharatpol portal in Delhi on Tuesday. On this occasion, he also felicitated the officers for their extraordinary contribution. During this, he said that when your loyalty is felicitated on the platform, it not only speaks of your courage, but it also boosts the morale of other officers. 

While launching the Bharatpol portal, Amit Shah said, "Bharatpol is an initiative to take our country's international investigation in a different form. Till now, only CBI was able to work with Interpol, but now through Bharatpol, state police and other agencies will also be interconnected." He said, "CBI will still be the nodal agency, which will be directly connected to Interpol, but now other agencies will also be able to contribute in preventing crimes happening at the international level. In 2047, when the country will complete 100 years of independence, then India will be at the forefront in every field."

How will the five modules of Bharatpol work?

The Union Minister said, "We will make India the world's third largest economy by 2027. We have started preparations to take India forward on a scientific level. Keeping in mind the global challenges, we have to update ourselves. The five modules of Bharatpol will work like NCB. It will help in locating criminals through quick, sure Interpol and also in locating criminals in India. Interpol coordinates the police of 195 countries. Through Bharatpol, it will help in coordination with the police of 195 countries."

It will be helpful in bringing back criminals

He said, "Real time interface is its specialty. This portal will help in crime control. International cooperation will be helpful in issuing red corner notices and different notices through this portal. India's investigating agencies will now be able to catch criminals who commit crimes in India and hide in other countries, who used to remain out of the reach of law. Now technology will help in catching such criminals. With the court order, criminals may be hiding in any corner of the world, Bharatpol will help in conducting trial against them in their absence and bringing them back to India. Law, court and Bharatpol technology will help. It will help in bringing such criminals before the law." 

19 types of databases will be available: Home Minister

Amit Shah said, "A CBI team will have to be formed to train the use of Bharatpol and work to take the new law to the grassroots. In crimes like drug trafficking, arms smuggling, human trafficking, the police of 195 countries will connect with Interpol through Bharatpol and do a better job. The state police will have to be very active by connecting with Interpol. The arrangement for all Interpol notices will have to be done at the institutional level. We will have 19 types of databases available. Bharatpol will also help in preventing crime, catching criminals, preventing cyber crime, it is very important to give training for this."
