SEOUL — North Korea fired suspected ballistic missiles toward its eastern seaboard on Thursday, South Korea's military said, following a satellite launch failure days earlier

South Korea has increased its vigilance in view of the latest developments and has given full information about this to America and Japan. South Korea's Joint Chief of Staff says that in their investigation they found that about ten short-range ballistic missiles were fired from near their capital Pyongyang. These missiles had travelled about 350 km before falling near the eastern seashores of North Korea.

Japan's coast guard has also issued a maritime security advisory on the latest developments in North Korea. Along with this, the ships practicing there have been asked to be cautious of any falling object.

There is no information on damages at the moment

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida told reporters that the suspected missiles fell in waters outside Japan's exclusive economic zone. There were no immediate reports of any damage. He said Tokyo strongly condemns the incident. Tensions between North and South Korea have escalated in recent months as the US and Japan have stepped up military exercises there.
