News Topical, Digital Desk : The stock market witnessed a sharp decline on Friday, the last session of the last week. However, even after this, the market closed with gains during the week. Before Friday, there was continuous buying in the stock market. This was the second consecutive week when the market closed in the green. Even after Friday's decline, the market saw a rise of more than one percent. During this period, there were more than 50 such stocks where traders and investors got a return of 10 percent or more during this period.

How was the market for the week?

During the week, the Sensex closed at 81,306.85 with a gain of 709.19 points or 0.87%, while the Nifty registered a gain of 238.8 points or 0.96% and the index closed at 24,870.10. The broad market has performed better. BSE Smallcap and Midcap have increased by 2 percent while the Large Cap index has increased by 1 percent. During the week, the auto sector saw the highest growth, the index has increased by 5 percent. At the same time, the Consumer Discretionary, Telecom and Realty Index increased by more than 3 percent. PSU and Power Index witnessed a decline. During the week, FIIs continued to sell and they remained net sellers for the eighth consecutive week but the pace of selling has decreased. They sold equities worth Rs 1,559.51 crore during the week. On the other hand, domestic institutional investors continued buying for the 18th consecutive week and bought equities worth Rs 10,388.23 crore. 

Where was the highest income made? During the week, more than 50 stocks saw a gain of more than 10 per cent, while 9 stocks rose by more than 20 per cent. Among the top gainers, Foseco India rose by more than 33 per cent. KIOCL grew by about 32 per cent in the week, KR Rail Engineering rose by more than 27 per cent. Apollo Micro Systems rose by 24 per cent. HLE Glascoat rose by about 24 per cent during this period. Apart from this, Prince Pipes, Lemon Tree, Dynamic cables, PG Electroplast also registered double digit returns.
