New Delhi. Former BrahMos Aerospace engineer Nishant Agarwal has been sentenced to life imprisonment for giving important information related to the country's security to other countries. But now a big thing has come to light in this case. Actually, Pakistani spies had used three apps to hack Nishant Agarwal's laptop and stole important data from his laptop which contained confidential information.
The investigating officer said that Nishant Agarwal used to talk to Pakistani woman Sejal and in 2017 he sent several links after which three apps QWhisper, Chat to Hire and X-Trust were installed in his laptop. UP-ATS investigating officer Pankaj Awasthi said that all these apps were malware through which important information related to the security of the country was stolen.
Created a Facebook account and got trapped in a honey trap
UP-ATS investigating officer Pankaj Awasthi said in his statement that to trap Nishant in a honey trap, a woman named 'Sejal' had created a Facebook account which was operated from Pakistan. Using this Facebook account, she along with her Pakistani henchmen used to target many Indian defense personnel.
The chats revealed that 'Sejal' was part of a group that shared data and tips to deceive Indian defence personnel. Awasthi further told the court that on Sejal's instruction, Nishant Agarwal had clicked on the link sent by her and installed three apps on his personal laptop in 2017. He claimed that during the investigation, important documents related to the BrahMos missile were found on his personal computers, which is in violation of BAPL's security norms.
Nishant was working in BAPL at the time of his arrest
Missile engineer Nishant was arrested in October 2018 in a joint operation by Military Intelligence (MI) and Anti-Terrorism Squads (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. He was then working in the technical research section of BAPL, an Indo-Russian joint venture that manufactured BrahMos missiles.
