London: The Czech Republic's Constitutional Court has rejected a petition challenging the extradition of Indian national Nikhil Gupta, accused of conspiring to assassinate pro-Khalistan terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, to the US.With this, the court has upheld the decision of the High Court. Now the final decision on Nikhil's extradition will be taken by Czech Republic Justice Minister Pavel Blazek.

US federal prosecutors have accused Nikhil Gupta, 52, of conspiring with an Indian government official in November last year to assassinate Pannu, a pro-Khalistan separatist leader, on US soil. Pannu holds dual citizenship of the US and Canada. Nikhil will be released on June 30, 2023.

He was arrested in Prague, the capital of the republic. The US government is seeking his extradition. The Czech Constitutional Court is hearing Nikhil's petition filed against this.

During the hearing on Wednesday, the court said that it does not see any violation of any fundamental right or right to freedom in the demand for Nikhil's extradition. It rejected the argument that the case was political. The court also upheld the decision of the local court and the High Court in which his extradition was accepted.
