Maha Kumbh Stampede: After the stampede during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, the opposition has started raising questions on the Yogi government of the state. In this sequence, Chandrashekhar Azad, MP from Nagina and leader of Azad Samaj Party (Kanshiram), has demanded the resignation of the government. He has said that now the government does not have the right to remain in power.
Chandrashekhar Azad wrote on the social media site X- I thought that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji, who has been associated with religious activities for a long time, would at least be able to conduct religious events in a systematic manner. But here too I was disappointed. The Yogi government completely ignored the safety and convenience of the pilgrims, which led to this terrible tragedy.
He wrote- The news of 17 pilgrims dying and hundreds getting injured due to stampede at Prayagraj Kumbh Mela is painful and angering. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families, I pray to nature to give them strength to bear this immense sorrow and for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The MP wrote- This accident is a direct proof of the government's gross negligence, inefficient administration and mismanagement. The government's focus was less on the convenience and safety of the pilgrims and more on publicity and show-off, for which innocent people had to pay the price by sacrificing their lives.
He said that this is not just an accident but a disgusting example of government failure. This level of chaos and disorder in such a big religious event proves that the government's priority is limited only to event management and photoshoots.
The MP alleged that not only this, the condition of hospitals here is also no less shameful. No beds, no facilities, a huge shortage of resources and the problem of proper treatment of the injured proves that the government's priority has never been the welfare of the people. Even today, injured passengers are neither getting timely medical treatment nor proper treatment. This government failure has put the lives of passengers in danger.
The MP made these four demands
The MP also made four major demands from the government. He wrote- I demand the Yogi government to immediately take the following concrete steps:
1. The best medical treatment should be made available to the injured and everyone should be treated free of cost.
2. The families of the deceased should be given a compensation of Rs 1 crore each.
3. Strict action should be taken against the officials and administrative machinery responsible for the incident.
4. In future, strict measures of disaster management and security should be ensured in such events.
Demanding resignation from the Yogi government, Nagina MP wrote- This tragedy has exposed the hollow claims of the Yogi government. Making religious events a political platform and playing with the safety of pilgrims is an unpardonable crime. If the government is unable to fulfill its responsibility, then it has no moral right to remain in power.
