Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu on Thursday expressed gratitude to India for providing continued financial assistance to the Indian Ocean archipelago. President Mohamed Muizzu is on a five-day visit to India.
This was President Mohamed Muizzu's first visit to India after assuming office in 2023. Muizzu held high-level meetings with President Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other senior Indian government officials, with discussions focused on strengthening friendship and development partnership between the Maldives and India.
Many issues were discussed between PM Modi and President Muizzu
"The matters of comprehensive economic and maritime security partnership were discussed during the visit," the Maldives President's Office said on Thursday. The areas of discussion between PM Narendra Modi and President Muizzu included social housing, infrastructure development, agriculture and fisheries, trade and investment, human resource development, health care, women's empowerment, renewable energy and maritime and security cooperation.
The Maldives President also visited Agra accompanied by First Lady Sajida Mohamed and held business meetings in Mumbai and Bengaluru as part of the visit. At business forums held in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, Muizzu highlighted the significant potential of the Maldives for tourism enterprises and outlined opportunities for future cooperation.
