BMC News: Road work in Mumbai's suburban district may be completed before the rains. Maharashtra minister and BJP leader Ashish Shelar said on Monday (7 April) that the BMC has been directed to complete the road work by May 31. Shelar is the guardian minister of the metropolitan city's suburban district. 

Ashish Shelar said, "He has asked the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation to submit a road-wise report within the next 15 days. Instructions have been issued not to start any new road work till the end of the monsoon."

Ashish Shelar visited Bandra West to inspect the status of the ongoing road works. He was accompanied by Additional Municipal Commissioner Abhijeet Bangar and other officials. Cement concreting work is underway on 74 roads in Bandra, Khar and Santacruz (west). Shelar said all major roads covered under Phase 1 and Phase 2 should be completed by May 31. No new digging should start. 

Work is ongoing in these areas

Minister Ashish Shelar said, "Officials have been instructed to complete the works on Guru Nanak Park, Khar Gymkhana, Bandra Gymkhana, circular roads near Daulat Nagar Island as well as areas up to Santacruz including Madhupark before the rains. Timely completion of these works is necessary to avoid inconvenience to people during monsoon." Shelar said that accountability should be maintained in all the departments involved.
