
Manipur Police has carried out a major crackdown against militants in the state. 15 cadres of various militant groups have been arrested in multiple raids across the state on March 8 and 9. Manipur Police said in an official statement, "During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense but under control.
Search operations and area domination were carried out by security forces in the border and sensitive areas of the hill and valley districts. On 9 March, Manipur Police arrested five active cadres of the NRFM outfit, namely, Kesham Robertson Meitei alias Nanao, aged 29 years, from Gandhi Avenue, Thangal Bazar under City-PS, Imphal West District.
Five mobile phones and identity cards recovered
The others are Moirangthem Tanu Devi alias Chinglembi alias Ichanthoi (21), Namirakkapam Rashini Devi alias Thoibi alias Mangalaima (25), Meikam Ichan Chanu (32) and Laishram Menaka Chanu alias Launchembal (27). They were involved in extortion, transportation of arms and ammunition. A two-wheeler, five mobile phones and an identity card were recovered from their possession.
109 check points established
She was involved in extortion from the general public, private firms, government officials, etc. A mobile phone and a wallet containing an amount of Rs 1,07,260 were recovered from her possession.
A total of 109 check posts were set up in various districts of Manipur both in the hills and valley and no one was detained by the police in connection with the violations in various districts of the state.
