New Delhi: Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) on Tuesday agreed to take back 14 plots returned by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife Parvati B.M. Chief Minister's wife BN Parvati had written a letter to MUDA offering to return the plots and said that she was listening to the voice of her conscience.

MUDA had then said they would seek legal advice before withdrawing it as the matter was under investigation. They were allotted 14 plots in Vijayanagara Phase 3 and 4, prime areas of Mysore, as compensation for using 3.16 acres of land in Kesare village near the city. An anti-corruption activist had complained that the state had suffered a loss of Rs 45 crore.

'The plot is not more than the honor of the husband'

Let us tell you that writing a letter to MUDA, Parvati said that she first wanted to return the plot, but she was advised not to do so because the allegations against her husband in the MUDA case were politically motivated. For me, no house, plot or property is more important than my husband's honor, dignity and peace of mind. After being in power for so many years, I have never wanted any personal benefit for myself or my family.

ED had registered the case

A day after the ED registered a case against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and some others, taking cognizance of the state Lokayukta's FIR in the money-laundering case linked to the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA), there has been a new twist in the case.

MUDA commissioner AN Raghunandan said on Tuesday, "As per the provisions of the law, we can take back the land plots. We discussed it with a panel of advocates. We decided to take back the land and we have directed them to cancel the sale."
