Today many farmers around the world are adopting tunnel farming technology. This is no less than a revolution in the agricultural world. With this technique, farmers can earn good profits by cultivating vegetables and fruits. Besides, it is also considered good for the environment. Tunnel farming is suitable for the production of many types of fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Tunnel farming protects the plants from sudden weather changes.

This farming technique is used to grow a wide variety of crops including vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs. It provides facilities for farmers to grow crops despite bad weather. Tunnel farming is an agricultural system in which plants are grown in a safe and controlled environment. Natural remedies are used in this. Tunnel farming is generally considered best for the winter season. Let us tell you that for the growth of any plant, a temperature of at least 10 degrees is required and the temperature remains low in winter. However, through this technique, proper temperature can be given to the plants. Due to this, the growth of the plant is good.

How does tunnel farming work?

Tunnel farming is such a structure in which one-meter wide beds are prepared in the field and on top of it a half-moon-shaped structure is made by bending bamboo or pipe. On these prepared beds, crescent-shaped (half-circular) structures are connected by iron wires and buried in the ground at an interval of 1.5 to 2.0 meters. Then a transparent plastic film (foil) is covered over it. After covering the crescent-shaped structures with a film, their lower parts (edges) are pressed into the soil. Due to this, the internal temperature increases when the sun shines during the day, which is good for the growth of the plant. This reduces the risk of rain, insect infestation and diseases to a great extent.

In this type of farming, when sunlight falls on the plastic during the day, the temperature inside the tunnel increases by about 10 to 12 degrees. Because of this, vegetables can be grown successfully with this technique even in winter.
