
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, while addressing a press conference, informed about the massive investments made in the railway sector across the country along with the state of Maharashtra. He said that Rs 23,778 crore has been allocated for Maharashtra, which is 20 times more than the allocation made during the UPA government.
Renovation of 132 railway stations
Ashwini Vaishnav said that the work of renovation of railway stations is also going on at a fast pace under the 'Amrit Bharat Yojana' in Maharashtra. Under this scheme, 132 railway stations of Maharashtra are being renovated. At the same time, he told that so far 2,105 km of new railway tracks have been built in Maharashtra, which will make the railway network of the state stronger.
Investing in the railway network across the country
The Railway Minister said that an investment of Rs 1 lakh 70 thousand crore has been made in the railway network across the country, out of which Rs 1 lakh 60 thousand crore has been allocated only for the security of railways.
Big investment in Mumbai Suburban Railway
He said that an investment of Rs 15,000 crore has also been made for the Mumbai Suburban Railway. Apart from this, new tracks will be laid at a cost of Rs 700 to 800 crore to further improve Mumbai's railway network.
Number of local trains in Mumbai
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that currently around 300 local trains are operating in Mumbai, which are an important part of the daily travel of millions of people in the city.
Expansion of railway projects in Mumbai
Along with this, he informed that the work on the sixth railway line from Mumbai Central to Borivali is going to start soon. He said that railway projects worth Rs 16,400 crore are going on in Mumbai itself, which will make the railway facilities of the city modern and more efficient.
