Bengaluru: Union Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Saturday said his reported remarks regarding US semiconductor firm Micron were being misrepresented. "I will have to be very cautious in future," he said.

Kumaraswamy said that semiconductors are a strategic industry. It is a basic requirement for electronics and automobile manufacturing. Both these sectors generate a lot of employment. I appreciate the semiconductor related initiatives taken by the PMO and will work towards fulfilling them through my ministry.


Questions raised on giving subsidy of Rs 3.2 crore in exchange of one job

His remarks came a day after he reportedly questioned the possibility of the US-based semiconductor manufacturer receiving a subsidy of Rs 3.2 crore for every job created in Gujarat.

Kumaraswamy stressed on creating more jobs

While talking to reporters, Kumaraswamy stressed on the need to attract investment in the country as well as create more jobs. He said, why has Prime Minister Narendra Modi given me such a big department? Why does he have so much faith in me? This is a big responsibility that the Prime Minister has given me.

It is my job to bring a large number of investors- Kumaraswamy

He said that my job is to bring a large number of investors. Not only bringing investors, but we also have to create as many jobs as possible. I have to live up to the expectations of the Prime Minister by creating as many jobs as possible.
