On New Year's Eve in Germany, a sudden knife attack took place in West Berlin. Many people were injured in this attack, two of these injured people are admitted in the hospital. Their condition is said to be critical, police has given information about this incident. This incident took place outside a supermarket in Charlottenburg, a quiet district of the capital, at around 11:50 am on Tuesday morning according to local time.

 

Witnesses said the attacker stabbed the man indiscriminately before several passersby intervened and overpowered him. Emergency services swung into action shortly after and the suspect was taken into police custody. German news agency DPA reported that there were currently no signs of a terrorist motive behind the attack.

 

Where did the accused run after stabbing?

Emergency services were alerted shortly before 12pm. According to reports the attack began inside a supermarket on the corner of Quedlinburger Strasse and Sommeringstrasse. Police said the knifeman then moved outside to the pavement near a nearby hotel.

 

Police further said that the suspect, a Syrian citizen living in Sweden, stabbed his victims with a knife stolen from a supermarket. Police have not yet released further details about the incident or the victims and the investigation is ongoing.
