While hearing a case, the Madras High Court said that hugging and kissing is a natural thing between a loving boy and girl. The court made this remark while giving relief to a young man facing charges of sexual harassment.
According to a report by Live Law, while hearing the petition, Justice Anand Venkatesh said, “For a crime to be committed under Section 354-A (1) (i) of the IPC, physical contact by the man is necessary. Hugging or kissing is natural between two people in love during adolescence. This is not a crime in any way.”
What was the matter?
Actually, a person named Santhanganesh had filed a petition in the court demanding the cancellation of the FIR registered against him by the All Women Police Station. The allegations were that the petitioner along with the complainant called her to a place on 13 November 2022. After that there was a conversation between the two. Then the petitioner hugged and kissed the complainant.
The complainant informed her parents about this incident. After this, the petitioner was asked to marry her, but he refused. After this, a case (FIR) was registered by the complainant.
Petitioner is innocent: Court
While hearing the case, the court gave relief to the petitioner. The court said that even if the allegations made are considered true, no criminal case is made out against the petitioner. There is no need for any legal action.
