In this situation, Brahmadev asked all the goddesses to observe a fast on the Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month, which is known as Karva Chauth.

Brahmadev said that by observing this fast, their husbands will win this war against the demons. After this, all the goddesses observed the fast of Karva Chauth for their husbands. Due to its effect, all the gods won the war. Since then, the tradition of fasting on Karva Chauth started.

Draupadi had also observed the fast

According to the legend, once Arjun was engrossed in Nilgiri tapasya on the mountain. Then many kinds of troubles started coming upon the Pandavas. In such a situation, Draupadi sought help from Lord Krishna, the savior of the world. Lord Krishna said that she should observe the fast of Karva Mata on the Chaturthi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month . On his advice, Draupadi observed the fast according to the rules. Due to its effect, the Pandavas got rid of the troubles.
