Bengaluru: The Enforcement Directorate has taken a major action in the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case and seized the property of Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah's wife and others. The ED has seized a total of 142 properties of Siddaramaiah's wife and other accused. The estimated value of these properties is around Rs 300 crore.

The ED has taken this action on the basis of an FIR registered by the Lokayukta Police Mysore under the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and Prevention of Corruption Act 1988. Serious allegations have been made against CM Siddaramaiah and others in this case.

The seizure is part of the investigation into money laundering through alleged irregularities in land allotment by MUDA. The ED said in a statement that the seized properties are registered in the name of various individuals who are working as real estate businessmen and agents. It said, "It is alleged that Siddaramaiah used his political influence to get compensation for 14 plots in the name of his wife BM Parvathi in lieu of three acres 16 guntas of land acquired by MUDA." It alleged, "Originally this land was acquired by MUDA for Rs 3,24,700. The compensation given in the form of 14 plots in this posh locality amounts to Rs 56 crore."
