'Joy Bangla Brigade' accused of plotting civil war in Bangladesh, FIR lodged against 73 including Sheikh Hasina:

Another case has been registered against ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The police have registered this case in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka. Apart from Sheikh Hasina, 72 other people have been made accused. All of them are accused of conspiring to incite civil war in Bangladesh and overthrow the interim government of Mohammad Yunus.

CID registered a case

A Bangladesh police official said the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) registered the case on the order of the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on charges of conspiring to topple the interim government.

Allegations against Joy Bangla Brigade

The court took cognizance of the matter and asked the CID to start the investigation on Thursday. The CID has registered the case after receiving information about an online meeting held on 19 December 2024. It is alleged that those involved in the meeting have created a platform called "Joy Bangla Brigade". Through this, there is a plan to bring Hasina back to power by inciting civil war.

577 people attended the meeting

Police said that a total of 577 people from Bangladesh and abroad attended the meeting. Alam, the vice president of the American chapter of the Awami League, had called this meeting. He has been made the second accused in the case. Everyone in the meeting followed the instructions of Sheikh Hasina. State-run BSS informed that the voice recording of the conversation showed that those present in the meeting vowed that they would not let the legitimate government function peacefully.

More than 100 cases against Hasina

Sheikh Hasina had to leave her country after the violent student movement last year. Hasina has been in India since then. More than 100 cases have been registered against her since she was ousted from power, including mass murder and corruption. Cases have also been registered against most of the Awami League leaders. Many leaders have taken refuge abroad. After Hasina's power fell, Mohammad Yunus took charge of the interim government.
