Latehar News: Latehar police in Jharkhand has achieved a major success. Police arrested the notorious CPI Maoist Naxalite Chandradev Singh. Police recovered two AK-47 rifles, four magazines of AK-47 rifles, 91 live cartridges, two plastic red-coloured rifle cleaning oil and three Naxalite diaries and other Naxalite materials from Chandradev Singh.
Main accused in Chotu Kherwar's murder
It is being told that the arrested Naxalite Chandradev Singh is a resident of Kui village of Manika police station area of Latehar district. He was the main accused in the murder of CPI Maoist zonal commander Chhotu Kherwar last month. A total of six criminal cases are registered against him in various police stations of Latehar district. Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav said that the police had received secret information that CPI Maoist's hardcore Naxalite Chandradev Singh was roaming in the Manika police station area with the intention of carrying out a major incident. Based on the information, the police formed a team and arrested Chandradev Singh.
Trying to get money from contractors
Latehar SP Kumar Gaurav told the media that Latehar police has achieved a major success in connection with the arrest of an active member of the banned Naxalite organization CPI Maoist and the recovery made from him. Information was received that a group of the Maoist organization is active in the border area of Manika and Shivadohar and is trying to demand money from contractors. After this, the police formed a team and conducted an operation under the leadership of empowered police officers and conducted a raid.
Some militants absconded
Kumar Gaurav said, "In this raid, one militant, Chandradev Singh, son of Lakhan Singh, village Kui, police station Manika, was arrested. Apart from this, some other militants fled. During interrogation of Chandradev Singh, he admitted that he and his other associates were involved in extortion in the area. He was also involved in the murder of Chhotu Kherwar. On his information, the police recovered two AK-47 rifles, 91 rounds of live cartridges and other materials."
'Number of active members of Maoist organization is less than 10'
Kumar Gaurav said, "At present, the number of active members of the Maoist organization has reduced considerably and now their number is less than 10. The police is continuously running anti-Maoist operations and many Naxalites have also surrendered under the policies of the Jharkhand government. Facilities are provided to bring the surrendered Naxalites back to the mainstream. A
total of six crimes are registered against the arrested extremist Chandradev Singh. The police is investigating against him and all the recovered materials are being matched with the relevant database. The police believes that due to the operations being run against the Maoist organization and the surrender policy, their influence is continuously decreasing."
