New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has urged the military leadership to remain prepared for rapidly changing geopolitical threats and opportunities and emphasised the need for a whole-of-government approach to effectively modernise national security. Senior officers of the Indian Army have witnessed how strategies have to be devised for border security and internal security at the same time, Jaishankar said on Tuesday, the second day of the Military Commanders' Conference.

This conference has taken place at a time when Chinese troops are retreating from Demchok and Depsang in eastern Ladakh. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi also shared the stage with the Union Minister. Jaishankar said in a post on Twitter that he is delighted to address the conference of military commanders in Delhi.

'There is a need to bring uniformity for the future'

Advising to adopt a long-term vision, he said that the Indian Army is fully committed to current preparedness and to deal with emerging challenges. To achieve India's strategic interests, the Army needs to be made progressive and uniform for the future.
