Internet services which were banned after the violence over the survey of Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal were restored at 4 pm on Friday. This has brought great relief to lakhs of people after five days. It is believed that the administration has decided to restore internet services after the most challenging Friday prayers were handled peacefully. District Information Officer of Sambhal, Brijesh Kumar said that internet services were restored at 4 pm on Friday in Sambhal.

This step of restoring internet was taken a few hours after Friday prayers were offered peacefully in the locality and other places including Shahi Jama Masjid which was the center of violence. Violence broke out in this district after the survey of the Mughal-era mosque. Four youths were killed in this violence. In view of this, before the prayers, the district officials had appealed to the people here to offer prayers in nearby mosques instead of gathering in Jama Masjid. Along with this, additional CCTV cameras were installed to monitor the situation. Officials said that the help of drones was also taken to increase surveillance to avoid any kind of untoward incident.

 

Friday prayers were offered peacefully in the entire Moradabad division

On the other hand, Friday prayers were performed peacefully in Moradabad division. Tight security arrangements were made around Jama Masjids before the prayers. Divisional Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh said that all necessary steps were taken by the police and administration regarding Friday prayers. Friday prayers were offered in a peaceful environment at all places including Moradabad, Rampur, Bijnor, Amroha and Sambhal in Moradabad division.

District Magistrate Sambhal Rajendra Pensia has said that extensive security arrangements were made, people were also appealed to maintain peace, as a result there is complete peace in Sambhal on Friday.

President of Shahi Jama Masjid Sambhal, Zafar Ali, said in his statement that the police and administration have made elaborate arrangements and efforts to maintain peace and harmony. The mosque committee is also working in close coordination with the administration so that everything is handled peacefully. He said that the committee had appealed to the people to offer namaz in their nearest mosques.
