Speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the Bob Khathing Museum in Tezpur, Assam, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, "In some areas along the LAC, discussions are going on between India and China at both diplomatic and military levels to resolve the conflicts. After the recent talks, a broad consensus has been reached to restore the status quo on the ground. This consensus has developed on the basis of equal and mutual security."

He said, 'The agreement includes rights related to patrolling and grazing in traditional areas. Based on this agreement, the process of return is almost complete. We will try to move forward only with the return, but for this we will have to wait a little more.'

It is worth noting that recently an agreement has been reached between India and China regarding the patrolling system on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in border areas. Earlier, the border standoff between the two countries started in eastern Ladakh along the LAC in 2020 due to Chinese military actions. After this, there was a long-term tension between the two countries, which caused a lot of tension in relations.

However, a bilateral meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during the recent BRICS summit indicated easing of tensions between the two countries. The meeting was the first formal interaction between the two leaders in five years. Xi Jinping and PM Modi said that the relationship between the two countries is important for the people of India and China and for regional and global peace and stability.

On the other hand, Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong had earlier said that he hoped that bilateral relations would move forward smoothly and the relations between the two countries would not be hampered by specific disagreements. Meanwhile, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, while highlighting the contribution of the first Home Minister Sardar Patel on his birth anniversary, said, 'There are many names who did not get proper place in our history, but this does not mean that their sacrifice was small. It is our duty to remember their sacrifices and give them respect.'

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended the inauguration ceremony of Bob Khathing Museum by unveiling the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
