After spending about 286 days in space, Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore returned to Earth on Wednesday (March 19). Both astronauts are currently kept at the rehabilitation center. Both will be looked after for about 45 days.

 

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has announced that they will be paid overtime for staying in space for longer periods. President Trump also said that he will pay overtime to both the astronauts from his personal funds.

 

I will pay overtime with my own money: Trump

Speaking to reporters, Trump said, "If I need to, I will pay for it with my own money. I want to thank Elon Musk because imagine what would have happened if he wasn't there."

 

What is Sunita Williams salary?

NASA also bears the cost of transportation, accommodation and food for its employees. Employees are also given additional amount for small everyday expenses. According to the Economic Times report, Sunita Williams usually gets salary under the GS-15 pay grade. Her annual salary is around $152,258 i.e. around Rs 1 crore 26 lakh per year.
