Ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday warned those threatening to ban her Awami League party, saying the Awami League is not a parasite and has not emerged with the floodwaters.
Without naming the leaders who demanded a ban on her party, the former prime minister attacked them and said, “Their audacity surprises me. They should not think that I have left everything behind. According to the Constitution, I am still the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Their power has no legitimacy.”
Targeting Mohammad Yunus
"What right do those demanding a ban have. Yunus himself is a fascist as he unleashed brutal crackdown on workers, teachers, students and others who were campaigning for their just demands," Hasina, who has been staying in India since August last year, said while addressing party workers and supporters virtually.
It is noteworthy that the National Citizens Party and some right-wing groups have demanded a ban on the Awami League. Hasina said that Yunus has no constitutional basis or mandate to run the country, he has taken power under a "well-planned conspiracy" with money received from abroad. He said that Mohammad Yunus has misled the common students and people. Those who have done this will definitely be tried on the soil of Bangladesh one day.
Mohammad Yunus was called a terrorist
Sheikh Hasina said, "The real face of Yunus has now been exposed before the people of the world. People have realised how deceptive, corrupt and terrorist he is. In fact, he did not come to power through any mass movement but through a cunning conspiracy. Does Yunus or his advisory council have any legitimacy?"
