A woman died under mysterious circumstances after falling from a residential apartment in Hyderabad. Police said on Wednesday that a 25-year-old woman from Odisha had come to Hyderabad for surrogacy. The woman's husband has accused a businessman. Police are investigating the allegations.

Deceased's husband alleges sexual harassment

The woman's husband alleged that a 54-year-old businessman had sexually assaulted her and that he had hired her for surrogacy. The woman took her own life on the intervening night of November 25-26. The Raidurgam police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the businessman under relevant sections of the BNS and are investigating the allegations.

According to the police, the woman was staying in one room of the businessman's flat for the past one month while her husband was kept in a separate room. The businessman stays in the flat with his wife and other family members and the surrogacy process was scheduled to begin next month, police said.

Police is investigating

Officials found saris tied to the iron grill on the balcony of the woman's room from the ninth floor to the seventh floor. Police suspect that she may have attempted to climb down to escape, but it is also being investigated whether she fell accidentally or died by suicide. The investigation is ongoing.
