Now you will see transgenders managing the traffic on the roads of Hyderabad. Hyderabad Police has recruited 44 transgenders as traffic assistants.
58 transgenders arrived at Goshamahal Police Ground for the physical test. They were tested on the basis of running, long jump and shot put. After this, 44 transgenders were selected. Out of these, 29 are female transgenders and 15 are male transgenders.
The chief minister had given the order
Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand was also present during the recruitment process. He said, 'All of you are role models for the people of your community.' Let us tell you that Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had asked to recruit transgenders as traffic assistants.
Following the Chief Minister's order, the Chief Secretary of Women and Child Welfare Department, Home Ministry and Hyderabad Police Commissioner held a meeting with the transgenders and informed them about the recruitment process.
Salary equal to home guard
The list of candidates was provided by the Social Welfare Department. Some eligibility criteria were fixed for this, in which the age limit of the candidate was kept above 18 years and below 40 years. Apart from this, he should have an identity card and he should be a local citizen.
Transgenders who pass the physical test will be given training. A special dress code has also been asked to be fixed for them. They will be given salary equal to that of home guards.
In the first phase, they will be appointed in busy areas of Greater Hyderabad. As traffic assistants, these transgenders will crack down on people who break signals and drive under the influence of alcohol.
