Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini divided the departments on Friday. More than a week after taking oath as the Chief Minister and a few days after the expansion of the Council of Ministers, the portfolios were allotted to the ministers on Friday night. Saini has kept the key Home portfolio with himself.

According to the news agency, Chief Minister Saini has the portfolios of Home, Revenue and Disaster Management, Youth Empowerment, Information and Public Relations and Language and Culture. There will be departments of Mines and Geology and Foreign Cooperation. In the previous government led by Manohar Lal Khattar, the Home Department was with Anil Vij. Vij has not got a place in the Council of Ministers.

Who got which department?
Cabinet Minister Kanwar Pal has got the departments of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Heritage and Tourism, and Parliamentary Affairs. In the previous government led by Khattar, the agriculture department was with JP Dalal. At the same time, another cabinet minister Moolchand Sharma has been given the departments of Industry and Commerce, Labour, Food Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs. He held the transport department in the previous government. Ranjit Singh has got the Energy and Jail departments which he had in the Khattar government also.

BJP had surprised everyone by making Saini the CM.
A few weeks before the Lok Sabha elections, BJP had surprised everyone by making OBC leader Saini the Chief Minister of Haryana in place of Manohar Lal Khattar. Saini took oath as the new Chief Minister of Haryana on March 12. On the same day, along with Saini, four BJP MLAs and one independent MLA also took oath as members of the new Council of Ministers. In his first expansion of the Council of Ministers on March 19, a week after taking charge, he included eight BJP MLAs, of which seven were new faces.
