Gorakhpur. The death of a youth in a road accident in Jhungiya Bazaar of Gulriha police station area on Sunday night took a communal turn. After stone pelting between the two parties, the police controlled the situation by using lathis. Due to tension, the Moharram procession was not taken out. Force is deployed on the spot.

Manoj Gupta of Jhungiya Bazaar of Gulriha police station area was returning home on foot from the town on Sunday night at around 8:30 pm after shopping. Two youths riding a scooter at high speed hit him from behind. The family took him to the medical college, where the doctors declared Manoj dead. On the other hand, a youth Maqbool riding a scooter fell from the vehicle due to the accident and got injured, leaving him behind, his companion ran away.

Clashes between both the sides 

On getting the information, the police reached and took the injured Maqbool to the medical college. People from Manoj's side got angry after seeing him there. Meanwhile, people from Maqbool's side also reached there. After an argument, a fight broke out between the two sides. Meanwhile, Maqbool ran away from there. People from Manoj's side followed him and reached the street of Fattepur Dihwa in Chiluatal area, where Muslim youths started pelting stones. Soon, stones started being thrown from both sides. Seeing the commotion, there was a stampede. There was an atmosphere of chaos.

Police did lathi charge 

People from the Hindu and Muslim sides gathered on both sides of the road in front of the medical college. Hundreds of people from Jhungiya Bazaar started creating a ruckus near the body of the deceased at the emergency gate. The police from Gulriha and Chiluatal, who arrived in large numbers, lathi-charged and dispersed the crowd.

Police filed a case

On the other hand, the Moharram procession that started from Fattepur Dihwa at night returned from a distance of a hundred meters after reports of tension. SP North Jitendra Srivastava said that the body has been kept in the mortuary. Peace and order is maintained at the spot. Action will be taken by registering a case on the basis of the complaint.
