News Topical, Digital Desk : The ongoing controversy surrounding Bollywood's much-awaited film "Don 3" has taken a major new turn. According to reports, after Ranveer Singh's exit from the film, the matter has now escalated to a demand for ₹40 crore in damages. Rumors of creative differences between Ranveer and Farhan Akhtar-Ritesh Sidhwani's production house, Excel Entertainment, are intensifying.
The matter reportedly went to the Producers Guild of India, but they were unable to find a solution. Now, both parties are preparing to pursue legal recourse, causing considerable uproar in the industry.
Will the dispute be resolved legally?
The Guild stated that its role in such disputes is limited. After both parties persisted, the body's members recommended that the matter be handled by legal teams. This development represents a formal departure from informal mediation, suggesting that the conflict could now escalate into litigation, according to a report in Variety India.
How did the dispute start?
The dispute began when Ranveer left "Don 3," which is being produced by Excel Entertainment and directed by Farhan Akhtar. Reports suggest that the production house is seeking compensation of ₹40 crore, citing losses incurred during the film's pre-production and development stages. However, Ranveer is said to have questioned the extent of the financial liability imposed on him.
According to reports, discussions between the actor and the producers continued until shortly before the release of "Dhurandhar," after which he decided to withdraw from the project. While he reportedly offered a certain amount as goodwill, the offer was withdrawn after Excel deemed the compensation offered to him too high. People familiar with the matter claim that Ranveer does not believe he is contractually responsible for the claimed losses.
Guild gave this advice
The Guild is now advising to seek legal help, so the future of 'Don 3' and the financial dispute related to it is still uncertain, as no further action will be taken by the parties involved.
