What is 22 carat gold?

Jewellery cannot be made from 24 carat gold. To make jewellery, some adulteration has to be done in gold. In such a situation, 22 carat gold proves to be very useful. This gold is 91.67 percent pure. It is also known as 916 gold. That means 8.33 percent other metals are mixed in it. This adulteration is other metals like silver, copper, zinc.

What is 18 carat gold?

Like 22 carat gold, 18 carat gold is also not pure. It is mixed with 18 parts gold and 6 parts other metals. That is, this gold is 75 percent pure, in which 25 percent is adulterated. Jewellery is also made from 18 carat gold. Jewellers have made more categories of gold. Like 23 carat, 16 carat, 14 carat, 10 carat etc. They mix other metals in gold according to carat and make jewellery from them.
