According to the order issued by the School Education Department, Mahasamund district's in-charge District Education Officer, Principal M.R. Sawant has been removed from his post and posted as Assistant Director in the office of Divisional Joint Director, Education Department, Jagdalpur. In his place, Principal Vijay Kumar Lahare, working as Block Education Officer of Navagarh (Janjgir-Champa), has been appointed as the in-charge District Education Officer of Mahasamund. At the same time, Bhupendra Kumar Kaushik has been made the new Block Education Officer of Navagarh block of Janjgir-Champa district.

This decision has come after the review meeting in which Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai had expressed deep displeasure over the poor results in the board examinations of Mahasamund district. In the review meeting held in Mahasamund in the third phase of Sushansan Tihar, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai had clearly said that there will be no compromise on the quality of education. He had given a strict warning to all the District Education Officers and instructed them to make necessary improvements.
