She shared a petition on her Instagram handle on May 9, 2025. In this petition, both the countries have been asked to stop violence and have peaceful talks. Soni wrote with the post, "Above all - peace. Sign the petition. Jai Hind." Her move has garnered a lot of discussion on social media.
Petition's purpose and support
The petition was started by peace activists from India and Pakistan, condemning terrorism and violence and appealing to both countries to exercise restraint. The petition said, “We, peace activists from India, Pakistan and elsewhere, condemn violent extremism and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
