News Topical, Digital Desk : In 1978, Amitabh Bachchan rocked the big screen as Don. After nearly three decades, Shah Rukh Khan played the role of Don in the remake. This film was directed by Farhan Akhtar. After the success of Don (2006), the sequel of Don came in 2011 and now preparations are underway for the third part as well.
But unlike Don and Don 2, Shah Rukh Khan will not be in the third film. Ranveer Singh is replacing Shah Rukh in Don 3. These days there are reports of the film being postponed. Meanwhile, recently Farhan Akhtar attended WAVES 2025 and called Shah Rukh the perfect actor for Don. He said at the event that Shah Rukh was a perfect fit for Don's personality.
Shah Rukh was Farhan's first choice
In WAVES, Farhan Akhtar spoke about casting Shah Rukh Khan in Don and said, “Shah Rukh's personality was perfect for the role. We became friends after Dil Chahta Hai when we started spending some time together. So from 2001 to 2005 when he said yes to do Don, we spent many evenings together. When I started writing it I was sure it would be Shah Rukh. His sense of humour, his self-deprecating style, the way he can be dangerous yet very charming, all of that was natural in the character so I never thought of approaching anyone else.”
That's why Don was a special movie for Shah Rukh
Farhan told why Don was a special film for Shah Rukh . He said, "Don is a very big deal for him. Apart from being a big fan of the film Don, he is also a big fan of Mr. Bachchan, so playing his character was a big deal." When Farhan was asked that if Shah Rukh had refused to do the movie, whom would he have chosen? On this Farhan clearly said that Shah Rukh had already agreed to do the film. When he was writing the script, Shah Rukh was ready to do the film.
