A shocking story has emerged from Chitradurga in Bengaluru. Chitradurga Superintendent of Police Ranjit Kumar Bandaru received a dangerous call. Which started a series of dramatic events like a crime thriller. Two 11-year-old boys claimed that they narrowly escaped a kidnapping attempt. Due to which everyone including the police came on high alert.

The drama took place in Abbinahole village near Imangala when the boys returned home without their school bags at 10 am. Routinely they used to catch a bus to Dharmapura at 6.30 am. They used to attend private tuitions before going to school at 9.30 am. It is being said that the children made up such a story out of fear of not doing their homework.

When did the police get suspicious?

Bandaru said that he realised something was wrong when the school teachers told him some things about the two

  • Both boys are known for their mischievous behaviour and never do their homework properly.
  • By then, officers from different teams left to trace the kidnappers.
  • His suspicion grew further when he noticed that none of the residents had seen any Omni van roaming around.
  • The boys had claimed that they were abducted by three masked men in a white Maruti Omni.
  • Then their vehicle returned. Moreover, there were some CCTV cameras at the spot where the boys claimed they were pushed into the vehicle, they also did not show anything.

'He was kidnapped by three masked men'

When asked about their early return, the boys claimed they were kidnapped by three masked men in a white Maruti Omni who sprayed a mysterious substance on their faces, rendering them unconscious. When they regained consciousness, the kidnappers reportedly said in Hindi, 'Ye woh bachche nahi hain (these children are not them),' and left the boys on the roadside.

The boys' behaviour and missing school bags lent credibility to their story, prompting officers to scrutinise CCTV footage and question local residents. But there were several loose ends in the story that made police suspicious.

This is how the police caught the children's lies

The police questioned the boys separately and soon realised that there were many contradictions in their statements. With the help of the teacher, the police comforted the boys and promised them no punishment if they told the truth. They then confessed to telling a false story. The reason for this was that they had fallen behind in completing their homework, for which they could have been punished.
