On the occasion of Eid, the Maharashtra government has made a big announcement for the Nagpur Haj House. The government has allocated Rs 1.2 crore for its beautification. This information has been given by the Minority Department. It has been said that the Haj House has been built in Nagpur for the pilgrims going on Haj pilgrimage. It has been in service since 2012. Every year 1000 to 1500 Muslims go on Haj pilgrimage from here. These pilgrims stay here where temporary accommodation facilities are provided and training for Haj is also provided here.

The Minority Department said that an amount of Rs 1.20 crore has been allocated for the repair of the Nagpur Haj House building, parking in front of it and beautification.

This decision has been taken at a time when Maharashtra Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik has directed all departments to clearly mention the possible increase in expenditure beyond the allocated budget in any new proposal to be presented before the state cabinet. This instruction was issued on Friday amid signs of financial constraints in the state.

It calls for transparency in identifying potential increases in expenditure for any new proposal, so that departments can be held accountable for their financial commitments. The directive stressed that no proposal should be presented to the Cabinet without clarifying how much the department's expenditure may exceed its original allocation. An official said that to curb unnecessary expenditure, departments have been directed to limit wasteful expenditure, consolidate unnecessary government schemes and curb free services wherever possible.
