Bhubaneswar: A heartbreaking incident has come to light at AIIMS hospital in Odisha's capital Bhubaneswar. The body of a 70-year-old elderly patient admitted in the orthopedic ward was found hanging from a fan. The name of the deceased is being told as Dilip Kumar Sahu, who was a resident of Atlapur village in Jajpur district. According to the information received, the hospital staff found him in this condition on Monday morning. At present, the police is interrogating the family members of the deceased and the people present in the hospital.
The body was sent for post-mortem
It is believed that this incident must have happened around midnight, but the exact time and reason is not yet clear. It is being told that at the time of the incident, about 30 patients and 10 hospital workers were present in the ward, yet no one came to know about this incident. This is raising questions on the security and surveillance system of the hospital. On receiving the information of the incident, the police team reached the spot. The police has taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. The police has started questioning the deceased's daughter, other patients admitted in the ward and the hospital staff.

Meanwhile, an officer of Khandagiri police said that the incident happened at around 1:30 in the night, when there was no one around the patient. After receiving a written complaint from the deceased's daughter, the police have started the investigation. The officer said that the exact cause of death will be revealed after the post-mortem report comes. No official statement has been given by the AIIMS Bhubaneswar administration in this matter so far. The police is investigating the case from every angle to find out whether it is a case of suicide or there may be some other reason hidden in it.
