Cases of cyber fraud and digital arrest are increasing continuously in many states of India. Fraudsters are easily taking over people's hard-earned money. The latest case of digital arrest has come from Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida) in Uttar Pradesh. Here, fraudsters have defrauded an elderly couple of a total of Rs 3.14 crore. During the fraud, the elderly couple was kept under digital arrest for about 15 days.

What did the police say?

The police gave information about this entire incident on Thursday. According to the police, this incident took place in Noida Sector-75 and the name of the victim is Biraj Kumar Sarkar who is a retired officer from a private bank. The elderly man lodged a complaint about the fraud in the cyber police station on Thursday and informed the police about the entire incident.

The fraudster introduced himself as an officer of TRAI

According to the police, the fraudster introduced himself as an officer of Mumbai's Colaba police station and threatened to arrest the elderly couple. The fraudster asked them to deposit money in the accounts mentioned to avoid arrest. The elderly man has said in his complaint to the police that on February 25, he received a call from a person who introduced himself as an officer of TRAI. The person asked the elderly man for the old number. After getting the number, the caller said that the number in question is connected to Naresh Goyal's money laundering. The person also said that a case has been registered against the elderly man in the Colaba police station.

Transfer money by threatening

According to the police, the fraudsters made the elderly man talk to an alleged police officer. The alleged officer asked the elderly man to appear at the police station. When he refused, he asked him to proceed with the process online. The fraudsters talked to the elderly couple posing as IPS officers and CBI officers. The couple was intimidated and money was transferred to different accounts.
