According to the information given by the National Seismological Center, earthquakes struck Uttarkashi on Thursday at 8:19 am. The magnitude of this earthquake was recorded as 3.5 on the Richter scale. Earlier, a low-intensity earthquake had occurred at 7:41 am. Its magnitude was recorded as 2.7 on the Richter scale.
The second earthquake in Uttarkashi was extremely strong. This can be gauged from the fact that rocks started falling from the landslide prone area of Varunavat mountain. People came out of their homes in fear.
