Gorakhpur News Today: Dr. Surinder Singh has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, Gorakhpur. He has been selected by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Earlier, Dr. Surinder Singh was the Vice Chancellor of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER) Mysore. He will replace the current Vice Chancellor Major General Dr. Atul Vajpayee in the university, whose term is ending on November 14. 

Dr. Surinder Singh's tenure at JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research has been completed on 4 November. Apart from this, he has also been the Drug Controller General of the Government of India. He has achieved many important achievements in the field of education. Dr. Surinder Singh has obtained MBBS and MD degrees.

: Similarly, Dr. Surinder Singh has served as Director at National Institute of Biologicals, Union Health Ministry, Director of Regional Drug Testing Lab, Additional Director at Central Drug Lab and Assistant Director of Microbiology at Central Research Institute. 

Dr. Surinder Singh has also served as Assistant Professor of Microbiology at Sardar Patel Government Medical College Bikaner and has also worked as Senior Demonstrator of Microbiology at AIIMS New Delhi. Under his leadership, JSS AHER Mysore has made its place among the top 25 universities of the country. 

Achievements of the new Vice Chancellor of MGUG
JSS AHER Mysore achieved many important achievements during the tenure of Dr. Surinder Singh. He played an important role in getting research grants of Rs 55 crores for JSS AHER Mysore in five years. In view of the services of Dr. Surinder Singh, he was included in the world's 'Most Influential People' in the field of global pharma industry for three consecutive years.

Dr. Surinder Singh has also been awarded several major awards for his significant achievements. He has been honored with awards like Pharma Bio World Award (2011), Dr. BC Roy Memorial Award (2014), Innovation Leadership Award and 'Top 20 Vice Chancellors of India' in 2022. Under his leadership, many national and international workshops and training programs have been successfully organized in the field of health.

It is noteworthy that the university has achieved many achievements during the tenure of Major General Dr. Atul Vajpayee as the first Vice Chancellor. During his tenure, the university started many employment-oriented courses including BAMS, MBBS. Similarly, during his tenure, the university has signed MoUs with about three dozen world-renowned institutions.
