US Immigration List: America's newly elected President Donald Trump has decided to carry out the biggest deportation in American history after taking office on January 20, 2025. In preparation for this, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has prepared a list of about 1.5 million people for deportation. Out of them, about 18 thousand Indian citizens are in the list prepared by the US government and they are at risk of being sent back to India.

According to ICE data released in November 2024, 17,940 Indians are among the 1.5 million non-detained individuals with final removal orders in the United States. According to data from the Pew Research Center, there are about 725,000 illegal immigrants from India in the US, making it the third-largest population of illegal immigrants after Mexico and El Salvador.

In three years, 90,000 Indian Americans were caught crossing the border

Prior to the release of this data, in October, the US used a chartered flight to deport Indian nationals living illegally in the country. The flight sent to India on October 22 was organized in cooperation with the Indian government, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Thousands of Indians living in the US without legal documents are struggling to legalize their status, many of whom have taken years to get approval from ICE.

In the last three fiscal years, an average of 90,000 Indians were caught trying to cross the US border illegally. The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed India in the "non-cooperative" category, citing delays in coordination by officials. According to the ICE document, Honduras tops the deportation list with 261,651 illegal immigrants, followed by Guatemala, Mexico and El Salvador.
