A fake bomb threat was made at the hotel
According to highly placed sources, for the first time in the meeting, the bomb rumours in airplanes and hotels have been considered as a new internal security challenge and have been put up for discussion. According to a senior official, the way fake bomb threats were given in dozens of airplanes and hotels in a single day, it points towards a big conspiracy. Due to a bomb rumour, the airline company incurs a loss of Rs. 3 crores due to the search of the airplane and delay in the flight.
Obviously, the security agencies are looking at this as a conspiracy to harm India's economic interests. The senior officer said that till now there is no concrete law to deal with such rumors. At present, giving a fake bomb threat is not a cognizable offense, due to which the accused gets immediate bail.
The increasing activities of criminal gangs will also be discussed
Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu has already announced amendment in the law to make it a cognizable offence and to provide for severe punishment. The senior official said that other measures including stringent laws can be discussed in detail to deal with this problem. Along with this, the meeting will also discuss the increasing activities of organised criminal gangs operating in India from foreign soil, and breaking the nexus of criminal gangs with drug smugglers and terrorist organisations.
